Midwest Meet and drive (MMD) August 31st 2008

OFFICIAL Midwest Meet and drive (MMD) August 31st 2008
Well, after a year of planning and research the time is finally here...with an official date and name!

Midwest Meet and Drive 2008 (or MMD for short)

What is it? A BMW only meet and drive in Nashville, IN open to all models of BMWs. Any series, any year, bring it out and show it off!

When is it? Sunday August 31st at 1:00pm (Note: Indiana time zone if rolling in from another state)

Where is it? Historic Nashville, Indiana at the Public Parking area located on East Washington street 2 blocks from SR 135. Meet will last from 1:00PM til 6:00PM. There are ~112 parking spots in the lot and I intend to use every one of them. Groups can depart/return the lot through the day and drive what can only be described as an AMAZING stretch of road located less than a mile from the lot. The elevation changes are plentiful, the turns are tight, and the scenery is beautiful.

Map of the general area: http://www.mapquest.com/mq/9-fNbeULwUlUjSiOMb

Price? FREE.

Approx. travel times?
from Indianapolis: 1 hour
from Lafayette: 2 hours
from Cincinnati: 2 hours
from Columbus: 3 hours
from Louisville: 1.5 hours
from Chicago loop 4 hours

Be a part of the 1st event of this magnitude in the midwest, and drive the best stretch of road I've ever been on. Feel free to post this on the your local forum if you dont see it, as I mentioned before I intend to fill all those spots and more. LETS MAKE THIS EVENT GROW!!!!!!!

EEK! you might want to rethink the title... the location is pretty inconveniently located far away from a lot of major cities in the midwest.

Chicago is probably your biggest BMW market and possibly one of the top 3 biggest in the country (and also centrally located in the map of the midwest if you eyeball it) I'm just concerned that by making the meet so far away from there, you won't get as many people to come or you will only have people coming from the southern states. I'm not saying I think every meet should be in Chicago, but just seems to make sense to make it closer to the masses for a larger turn out for a true "Midwest Meet".

Looks like fun though, sorry I can't make it... it's a bit far and I'll be working that weekend.

hope you get a big turn out though... just saying you might want to condense it to like a southern midwest meet or something, that way those people around that area will feel like its geared more to them and not dismiss it as being something that probably would be in Chicago and thus be more likely to inquire about coming. if you get people who are willing to drive far for it like from chicago or milwaukee or detroit... they'll look into it regardless if they are interested since they'd know coming into it that its kinda far away.

Why is it that everyone from Chicago thinks it is the center of the universe?

This area in Indiana is awesome--great driving and atmosphere. I hope a lot of people go. Sure as hell beats driving around in the Loop.....

I think the title was intended to be inclusive and that was the point of the title. The roads are some of the best in Indiana, as David pointed out and well worth it.

I know the BMW and 335 community in Chicago is strong. We are not quite as strong in Indy and we have less numbers to draw from. It would be great to get together with some of midwest peeps and it would be great to have a nice contingent from Chicago. It's about 4 hours +/- to Nashville, IN from the loop.

Hope to see you there David.
John, my dad and I are planning on heading down for sure--we will be getting back to Indy from the Z homecoming in SC early that day, but plan on taking both my 1er and his M Coupe down to the meet.

For the record--there isn't a road in Chitown that compares with Route 46 baby! Can't wait!

they don't all... and I'm not saying I am one of them. I am just saying you can call it a midwest meet if you'd like but its not as easily accessible to the entire midwest as a place LIKE Chicago would be with its central location in the region.

don't blame me, I didn't make the maps.

All I was alluding to was that you'd probably get a much bigger draw if it was closer to Chicago, thats all. I'm sure the driving there is great.... trust me I can go 10 min outside of Madison and be on hilly-curvy roads for days... its a hell of a lot better than sitting in traffic on the Dan Ryan. Just seems like Chicago area would be the most logical gathering point if it was intended to be an all inclusive midwest meet.

Again... I wish you guys luck and hope you have a good showing.

Trust me, I worked in the loop for three years, and the average person DOES think that.

No worries--we should have a good time.
