Sorry, last question of the day, 6FL and iPod

When using the 6FL and iPod option on an E91, should the iPod stay on the whole time, even when the keys are out of the ignition?
Mine does stay on. Is this okay for the iPod?

When car powers down approx 15mins iPod will go to sleep, as soon as door is opened it wakes up.
