What is the difference between these two spare tires to put in my trunk??

What is the difference between Tischer BMW compact spare and the one below (LeatherZ)? What I see is that one is actual BMW brand (Tischer E60) and one is a "generic" brand. (???)

The Leather Z one looks smaller???? More compact than Tischers? I need the smallest I can get to avoid taking up my trunk space.

Can you please give me input??? Thanks!!!!

i started the thread on bimmerfest about the E60 tire

the leather-z spare is an E46 'vert spare. the offset is not correct for the E9X and requires an 15mm spacer to clear the brakes on the E9X. this nets an effective offset of ET 15

the E60 spare clears the E90 brakes without a spacer. the offset is ET18 i believe.

the other bits, the E46 spare is slightly smaller than stock E90 rolling diameter (125/80/17, 631mm, E46 spare)
(135/80/17, 647mm, E60 spare)

E9x tire diameters range from 632mm(16") to 643mm (19")

the leatherz spare is a 17X3.5" rim. the E60 spare is a 17X4.0" rim. so the E60 spare is 0.5" thicker.

pros for the E60 spare
-almost 150 cheaper
-no spacer and longer bolts needed.

pros for the E46 spare
-0.5" thinner

when you say longer bolts needed do you have to buy them extra when you buy the spare?

no, leatherZ includes them, but charges 75 for the spacer and bolts. which i find a little funny because i bought a set of rogue engineering spacers and bolts ( a pair of them, i used them with my summer tires), same size, for 115... they're selling 1 of the pair with almost a 20$ markup.

in order to use the spacer, bolts that are 15mm longer than stock are needed
