iDrive Traffic

What traffic source do you guys use for your iDrive systems? Today on my way to work my iDrive said there was stopped traffic on the 280, but when I got onto the highway there was no traffic at all! This has happened to me a few times and seems like the traffic information is not very accurate.

Sometimes, mine doesn't say shit and when I get on the freeway, it's super packed...

hahaha, i just try to negate everything it tells me as far as "real-time" traffic that it gives. sometimes it mad bs! and other times it can be semi-accurate, so i tend to just not take the detour option.

In my area (San Jose) it's been fairly accurate so far.

yeah, it's not that accurate. i ran into a few "traffic jams" that were all cleared up. for some, i took the alternate route and damn, it's even longer! i don't think it recalculates the next best route but rather whatever resembles your original route. i don't even bother using it. i just use the map to navigate my way around inside roads and hop back onto the freeway whenever i get stuck in traffic.

I don't bother using it. I had an incident where me and a buddy (he was in his car) were on the same route going home, my iDrive told me to reroute for upcoming traffic. He ended up staying on the same course and i took the suggested route. He ended up beating me home by about 20 minutes.

Don't listen to it anymore in SoCal. Learned my lesson.

Today to work it said there was no traffic so I took the freeway and it was right I guess, but I am guessing maybe when it says there is traffic it might be delayed?

Maybe I'll just call 511 next time and make sure there is traffic before taking the detour.
