experience with nokian WR or WR G2

i´m looking for a new winter tyre set up.
my last one where blizzak.
i´m thinking of nokian WR or successor WR G2
i take for info but only found any with experience on Hakka RSi

i´m more a high speeder (autobahn) so i think WR would be the better choice. But not really sure??

what do you think

WR are just absolutely awesome for winter tires, I would think the successor is better yet. You pay a premium for Nokian tires, but after you have a set, they are worth every cent for a snow tire. They will make the blizzaks seem inferior!

Hey E_90, the Nokian WR and WR G2 are ALL WEATHER tires. Both have the servere snow servcie emblem (mountain peak and snowflake) and exceed govenment standards for snow conditions but niether is a dedicated snow tire. These would be great to have on year round. If you are looking for dedicated snow, look at the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5, most of them are T-rated (118MPH) and are awesome. What kind of speeds are you traveling in the snow, ice and slush?

ALL WEATHER tires
well my local tyre shop said Nokian WR has good grip in the rain and also when you get surprised by snow. Nonetheless, its driving comfort is excellent on a dry road as well. sounds to be a allrounder
most i drive at normal road conditions. once i go to winter holiday in februar.
and this could be the critical thing. high alpin conditions at austria.
so you would suggest Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5??

The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 is studded, so you can't use those in Germany.

I think the WR and WR2 are made for your autobahn.

You can get the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 non studded as well. That will be the best for extreme winter conditions.

Yes, that would be the RSi, and yes, it's great for extreme winter conditions, but I think it's too soft for the autobahn.

2012 Audi S4  [9.00]
2007 E90 335i  [9.00]
2011 Audi A4 Avant  [10.00]
Had Nokian tires on Audi for years, great tires in general for winter!

Running Gislaved on the wifes Volvo pretty good also!

Currently have Toyo Garrit KX for my BMW. Pleased with them but more difficult to gauge since I went from AWD to RWD and a hell of a lot more snow last winter!!!!

Swedish company that was bought by Continental a few years ago. Popular with Volvo (Swedish connection of course), when we bought our XC70 got it in winter and requested winter tires and bought 18's for summer. As I said they are pretty good in the snow not as good as Nokian for ice.

I found one US site selling that tire for $912 USD for a set of 4 without shipping/tax/mounting or balancing, so it sounds pretty good! Nokians are quite expensive in the US though compared to other brands. Probably why they aren't popular here.

Before I bought my current Blizzak WS-60s I really wanted the Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi. They were extremely expensive compared to the Blizzaks or Michelin X-Ice and I couldn't justify them.
