Pricing Help,,,

Looking to buy a 325xi step. Found one that is Jet Black/ Beige Leatherette w/ just Step and Heated Seats. Dealer is asking $35k. They said it was a trade-in from a guy who went on to buy a new X3 from them. It has 8k miles.

How much should I start offering and what should be my highest buying price?

What do you think they offered the guy for the trade-in?

I ask because I priced out a brand new one and it is $35,2xx with the same options. Several dealers have told us they will do $2k off, maybe more. Plus keep in mind the 328xi's will be out before the end of this year since SOP is 9/06. So I don't want to pay a lot for a car that will be outdated in 6 months. Thanks.

The dealership is asking almost new pricing for a used car (granted it is only a few months old, but has 8K miles on it).

I would rather go with a totally new car rather than that used one (esp given the price asked). Considering there is 8K miles on it only a few months that sounds like alot and I'll bet it wasn't broken in correctly and there is probally something wrong with it. If someone is going to trade in a car in that short of a time and take the kind of hit the owner did (I wouldn't be surprised that he lost $4k-$5K on the deal) then there had to be a real compelling reason to get out of that car.

Just get a new one and start at about $500 over the invoice for a NEW car the dealer has on the lot. Considering the situation with the new model year (you can start ordering the next year in a few months).

Thanks espo89. I was thinking something might be wrong with the car. I was thinking of offering 30k and see what happens. Maybe buy it if the give it for 31k. What do you think? Is 31k too much?

Anyone know approximately how much the 328xi sedan and coupe will be compared to the current 325xi?

Invoice pricing on that car is as follows:

325xi US: $32,800
Step/Auto: $1275
Cold Weather: $850
Delivery: $695

Total: $35,620

Add $500 for a brand new one and you shouldn't pay much more than $36K

For his "used" car, I'd offer $30K to take it off his hands. I'm sure he'll negotiate and you might end up settling at $31-32K or so. He knows the 2007 models will be out soon and it will only make it harder for him to move that car. And, besides you can pickup a brand new non-xi with the same options for $30K if you do European Delivery!! The same car xi would only be about $32-33K with European Delivery.

Invoice on that car is $32,390 brand new... there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get a new car for around $33k.

If you don't want to spend that much, and don't mind picking up the car with 8k miles on it (make sure to ask how that will effect any warrenty issues); I agree that $30k is a fair price.

$32,800 is MSRP for that car, not invoice.
There's noway you should be paying anywhere near $36k for that car; even brand new.

You are absolutely right. My mistake...looked at the first page (MSRP) instead of the second page (Invoice) of the BMW pricing sheets. Correct invoice prices are $32710 for US delivery and $30440 for European Delivery. Add a little profit ($500) and you have your price.

Note: Assumed cold weather package

Thanks a lot for that invoice price link. I'm going up there tomorrow afternoon for a TD. Still don't know if I will like the Black/Beige. But if we like the car we will prolly just buy it the same day. I have driven a e90 325i and 325xi about 1 week ago.

I will be sure to let you know. I'll give you guys an update w/ some pics tomorrow when I see the car.

Based on the price lists, I can get a new car easily for $33k. So I think that it's worth $30k to possibly $31k depending on condition.

When you make an offer, is it supposed to be with or without the destination and handling fee of $695?

usually the offered price is inclusive of everything except Tax, Title, Plate Transfer.

On a new car, it should be included and is something the dealer really can't negotiate on. You might try excluding it on the used car, since it has already been "delivered". But, you'd have to pay it on a new car so I could argue it either way. You're really trying to compare the cost new versus used. New included destination/handling of $695.

I need some quick help.

Thinking of waiting for the E92 328xi or maybe E90 328xi.

It says September SOP for October delivery.

1) How much do you guys think the MSRP for both will be?

2) Does the dealer give a discount on a brand new car (if I order it as soon as I can)? Or should I expect to pay MSRP for both?

3) Any body style or wheel changes between 325xi and 328xi sedans?

Thanks. Need this info ASAP. Going to the dealer to look at the used E90 this afternoon. So if I know the E92 pricing, I might not buy this used E90.

Some thoughts:

1. There seems to be some debate about when the E92 will arrive and if the 2007 E90 will stay a 325 or be a 328.

2. I would not expect much of a discount when trying to purchase a car that has not even been officially released. I don't believe pricing has even been announced.

3. As far as the E90 goes, nothing I've read indicates any styling changes for 2007. Maybe some new wheel choices, but otherwise I'd expect the car to look the same.

Thanks tkochh.

I want the E92 328xi. Forget the E90 328. But if the price on the coupe is going to be a lot higher than present, I'll just pick up a new or used 325xi right now. I've been reading through all the E92 threads since I've been a member for over a year. I just don't post much even though I'm on here everyday.

What's your guess on the E92 328xi MSRP?

Boy...that's a hard one. With relatively few options, I'd certainly hope it would come in around $40K, preferably much less (unlikely). Until the pricing is available, it is hard to say.

And, I don't blame you for waiting; the E92 328xi should be a great car! If you can wait a few months and are okay with buying a used 325xi if the E92 is too pricey, then I'd say wait it out and see.
