If she is dead and blind. She needs one of 2 things. A see-eye dog, or a walking stick to feel around with.

Without either, she is just dumb. Besides, how did she make sure a good B-line for the quarter opening the gate hadn't closed yet? If it was her first time there then she wouldn't of made it so directly and if she had been there before and knows the layout, she should know there is a damn gate there!

hydraulic gates should have a pressure reversing mechanism or a trip line (think your garage door opener) or should require a person to hold the switch the entire time...

there was a fatal injury at the local airport hanger...the lineman (the guys that move the airplanes around) had the switch jimmyrigged...ended with a OSHA violation and a large insurance payment

It looks like it happened at a health clinic or hospital parking setting. The chick in the light blue outfit looks like a O.R. or E.R. nurse. The chick in the white outfit looks like a radiology tech. The chick who was hit in the deep blue outfit looks like a medical clerical worker. I woudn't be surprised if she worked a graveyard shift because you can lose touch of reality when you're really tired especially at the end of your shift. A lot of med school students and medical residents are at a high risk of traffic accidents or getting into accidents.

In a home environment where there are a high likelyhood of children, yeah. These gates are probably old as heck and I don't think they'll spend the money to upgrade.
