Blackberry Cingular 7100g OS 4.1 Success!
Loaded OS 4.1 multilingual on my Cingular 7100g. Worked great and this morning successfully paired it with my 2006 BMW 325xi. Address book trf with no problem. All was well. This is a download from the Hong Kong site. My 7100g, with the OS 4.1 update and the CIP20 from BMW, is now fully functional with my car. 90 days later and more than a few hours, it really finally works. Great feature. :rocks:

Question - Where do you get the OS 4.1 multilingual my Cingular 7100g software? (do you have the link?). I also have a 7100g from Cingular and just got a brand new 2006 650i.
Once I get the software, then download it and I install it on to PC with the BB 7100g attached via the USB cable, does that automatically install OS 4.1 on to the BB 7100g? That's the part I am a little confused about...I get that it sets up 4.1 of the desktop manager, but does that also mean that OS 4.1 is on the BB? And what's the CIP20 from BMW? Sorry for all of the questions--I am not particularly technical and I want to get this functionality set up! Sounds like you have figured out what I have been researching for some time, so your guidance would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance. |

My provider doesn't have 4.1 yet
I have had no success getting OS 4.1 from my wireless provider (Rogers) so will try the asian download and see how it works. Heres some more info on the how to that I picked up from the E60 forum
thanks to Jason on E60 site for the following; Downloaded it from here (select the link for 7100g) :- https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B42B2DBB8F27B6 Installed it to the pc, then deleted the vendor.xlm file (search for it on your hard disk). It upgraded my 7100v to v4.1.0.210 and now I can exchange my phonebook with Idrive in my 5 Series. Works a treat Jason From another post. Without the 4.1 upgrade Phone book does not transfer Call waiting disconnects the original call when a second call comes in. Both of these problems are resolved with 4.1 so just do it and don't be scared. The upgrader even backs up your phone book and SMS/mail history before it upgrades. Features that work with the car Dialing by number via voice or I-Drive Wheel Dialing by phonebook via I-Drive Wheel Recording voice commands for dialing numbers (this memory is stored in the car, not the phone) Caller ID, Call waiting, etc. Features that don't work with the car Dialing phone book entries in my BB's memory via voice commands. - I have heard that this is an option that is enabled with all the other voice commands that NAV gives you. I dunno. I just went through the "record name" process with the 10 or so numbers I call most often. It's cool anyway, since I have people's full names in my phone's address book, and then the car displays each person's entries (home, office, mobile, etc.) as seperate entries in the car phone book, so I can record the word "work" and program in my admin's desk phone number instead of having to say her entire name and "office" |

Good luck Gary ......... my feeble initial attempts failed ........ the employer offered up BBerry Server program for my 7290 and Note Email ....... the download happened to include 4.1 for 7290 ........ which means, must be available as US based download from BBerry ....... If you can get there, it is worth it......address book updates everytime I start my car automagically

It worked
updating my previous post; SUCCESS. I am now running 4.1 and have my complete address book. By the way, I needed to also download the desktop manager and run it to make it work as the handheld code doesn't seem to run on its own. I also started off with just my addresses up to the first group email listing. Nothing after that. As noted in another post, I moved my group email lists to the end of my address book by renaming them zz(groupname) and all phone list entries are now available. Life is good again - but how can it not be when we can play in our E90s.:rocks:
