Need Service?

Bought my BMW from a freind & it had the MOT done at the end of March this year, but since ive had it the brake warning light has been on.

He told me it was fully serviced & the garage he had it done at was just waiting for a chip to reset the warning lights, so i went to see the garage & they told me the same thing, i left my number but they have not been in touch.

This is my first car & i am unsure what i should do as if there is a problem i would like to get it fixed before it gets worse or becomes dangerous

You should find an independent BMW service centre and ask them to check the fault codes for you. As long as they have an Autologic or GT1 machine, they will be able to do this very quickly. I would suggest you get it investigated rather than just take it back to the MOT place for the lights to be reset.... Incidentally, this "chip" this garage is waiting for is a little more than a "chip" - it's at a minimum a handheld code/diagnostic scanner which will cost a couple to a few hundred pounds at least - I doubt very much they'll be buying one in just to reset the fault codes on your car
