Post My New Winter tires and wheels for 335i Coupe

I just received from Tire-Rack my new winter tires and wheels for my 335i Coupe, 980 $.
4 Sport Edition A7 17 " x 7.5 Wheel
4 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D 225/45/17 VR
4 BMW original center caps

Everything was as expected, the wheel is very nice, thanks to Gary from Tire-Rack.

I ordered everything last friday, 26 octobre and delivered it to the UPS Store in Plattsburg, I live in Montreal, so I just pick them up this afternoon, 2 hours driving to save 240 $ (shipping to Montreal, brokerage fees and duty, I only pay the taxes after passing the customs, 144 $)...no too bad.

I will post pictures when I mount them...we still having a cool automn!

3 questions

Are they runflats?

Do they have TPMS?

What # do you call to ask for Gary?

Thanks!

We had those same rims from the Tire Rack on our old 633csi. They are a great choice for winter because they inexpensive and are VERY easy to clean (they look good too).

runflats versus non runflats

Hi,

Your 4 new tires are not runflats. Do you have a different spare tire available in the trunk from a previous purchase?

If not, and you get a flat, you might be in trouble, you may want to purchase a 5th to keep in the trunk.

Also, if you didn't get the TPMS, you may be driving with a warning light on all winter. (unless you can disable the functionality? I'm not sure).

Anyway, good luck!

Thanks for the pictures of the A7, they look awesome!

The tires are not runflat and canadian E92/E90 don't have the TPMS system. I have a flat repair kit in the trunk, I'm always nearby the town, if I do some long disatance, I will take with me on of the stock wheel, just in case. I really prefer that than to drive on the run flat and then need to scrap it. It's really more easy to repair a regular flat than to wait and find a place where they repair the runflat tires.

Most people do not buy RFTs for winter and believe it or not, are smart enough to figure out that they might have a problem if they get a flat tire and make alternate arrangements. Also, none of the '06s have TPMS.

I got the same set up except I did get the Dunlop M3 runflats. Gary was great with answering questions. I also had Tire Rack install TPMS.

If you look at the inner side of the wheel, there's a marking that says "ASA JH3". If I'm correct, ASA wheels are slightly lighter and several dollars more.

You're right..So I ordered Sport Edition and I received ASA-JH3? Or are they the same wheel or it's only the color that's different...The ASA-JH3 looks more silver!

Exactly, we dont' have TPMS in Canada, so there is no pronlem with that

I don't have the sport package, what you're looking it's a non sport package mags and tire, they have all the same size.

Lots of good info, thanks guys I will be checking this thread more intensively when i get home...

Question: Would 17" tires even fit on my car? I dont think the 17"s would clear my breaks/disks..

Only few 17" wheels will clear the brake calipers on the 335i. So if you're going with another set of 17" wheels, make sure they can fit!
