18" runflat as a spare

So I just went to the tire racks web site and built a set of 17" winter tires and rims and I was wondering...I am not ordering run flats. I have 18" run flats OEM's on the car now ( I cant remember the rim style I have the sport package) anyway, I was planning on using one of the run flats as a spare. Can I put one of the runflats on as a spare that is 18 inch with the 17's and not damage the drivetrain? Or do I have to buy 5 tires? sorry about a noob question...

I don't think you can mix them, but why not get the Continental comfort kit? It is not perfect, but should get you through the most common flat tire issues. I just keep the kit in my trunk and have been fine for the last two winters.

You won't be able to mix them during everyday driving, but in an emergency you should be able to use it. Do what you gotta do to get home!

Correct. As long as the overall diameter is pretty close (which it should be if you're ordering one of our recommended packages) , its okay to use that one as a temporary spare solution.
