waxing after every wash?

Are you suppose to wax your car EVERY time you wash it?

You can if you'd like, but that's real time consuming. Once a month is good

The law of diminishing returns, you can wax all you want but it won't look any better or offer any more protection.

I have to disagree with that....If you wash your car with a soap that takes the wax off the car, then it would make a difference...

The law of diminishing returns means the more you do something (i.e eating pizza, or waxing your car) sooner or later its going to become less and less satisfying.....and in order for a soap to take off wax its gotta be harsh soap then like dish washing soap...

Pretty much any soap can strip wax if not diluted correctly so be careful. Surly some soaps tend to strip less, but you lose some wax everytime you wash your car.

Waxing your car eveytime you wash it is a bit much. If you wash your car once a week with correct methods and with a good soap and correct dilution ratios you should have enough wax left behind to last you a month to a month and a half. After that I would re-wax. Keep in mind that your choice in wax makes a difference as well for some waxes can last up to two months and others only weeks.

I tell my clients to wash once a week, always follow a wash with a QD, and wax every month to ensure you always have protection on the clear coat.

i only wax once a month... but if youre ocd then you can wax everytime you wash. you can use a quick detailer to give the car some shine in between waxing jobs... personally, i dont bother using qd except to clean off bird crap.

it depends on how long your wax really lasts. if it's gone in 2 weeks, then wax every 2 weeks

I wash once a week and follow with a synthetic sealant spray (my LSP is Jetseal, not wax). This is faster/easier than a liquid or paste product, and keeps the shine and protection there. So if your LSP is a wax, then I would follow with a spray wax after ever wash, or every few washes. You could easily get by without it, though, and just wax every month or so.

I suggest that you wax (polymer-based in my case) at 2-3 months intervals. Then every 2 car-washes, a wax booster like Quick Detailer in spray from Meguair. It takes 5 minutes to apply and it looks beautiful (more than wax!) with a wet look.
