The Mysterious Spot That Won't Disappear!

Ok guys, this is really killing me. My Dads car has developed some spots that I can't get out, no matter what I do. Does anyone know what to do? It looks like something was spilled where it's parked every day, because I know it wasn't done here..

I have tried claying, but to no avail.

I just don't understand how.. When I first noticed it before washing it off a couple months ago, it was kind of yellow-ish/brown in color.

Bur I don't think it's sprinklers because the whole car would have them, and I know it hasn't been parked with sprinklers around

then try a mild polish and work your way up to a aggressive one if it doesn't work at first

It's most likely hard water that dripped from the parking garage onto those spots. Then when the car was in the sun it most likely etched the paint. It should be able to be polished out, but depending on the severity it may need to be wet sanded, but polishing would be my first step, starting mild and getting more aggressive.

Any ideas on a good polisher that might be able to work?

it's definately hard water stains. My old car had them. I would try a mild polish as suggested by the other members.

He's got it. It's etchings from the metal deposits in the pipes. The water is leaking on to the car, the deposits etch the clear and you get ugly spots.

Try Meguiars ScratchX by hand first, then move up from there.
