V3 Relay issue/crimps buzzing (FIXED!)
I think its kind of late so this kinda sucks cuz i dont expect shiv to be there for a phone call. I hope this is okay posting here in hopes that someone can help me . This seems to be an isolated issue and im not throwing any codes, cel lights.
So i posted a month or so about this sound i was hearing from under the hood after i shut off the car. Its a distinct buzz buzz buzz. Someone meantioned that it had to do with there being a disconnection from the ecu and the car and a search. About 1 month ago i removed v3 from my car, and havnt heard the noise since. I just reinstalled v3 and when turning on the car to test it, i came across the noise again. Its worse this time and keeps going on until power is cut off. Fortunately i was able to take a video of the sound and what was also interesting.. the relay. The relay has a switch inside it causing a clicking noise. Once it clicks, it changes the circuit to 2 studs that dont have any wires connecting to it and thus the buzz buzz buzz sound. once it buzzes 3 times the relay switches back and is fine for about 1 second, then repeats this. Shortly i will try to upload this video. Hopefully the quality turns out fine and u can hear the noise too. Last edited by zsapphire7; 10-13-2008 at 10:46 PM.. |

Look closely at the relay, when it switches it hits 2 prongs that are not connected to the wires comming from the relay. My guess is... either the relay is switching incorrectly or the wires from the relay are not hooked up properly. I need some help here tomorw ..

+1 Yea seriously! I just wanna say special thanks to shiv for helping me out today. Fortunately since im local here, Shiv came down to fremont while i was at work to check out the weird noises that were comming from my car. After switching around the relay and troubleshooting the issue for a good 10 mins, it seemed as though there was a bad crimp and so Shiv just swapped in another harness and the noise stopped . Anyways shiv was really ontop of things even though this happend to occur really late on a friday night and even came down to meet me locally. When one of the crimps were loose and we lacked the proper tools such as pliers to clamp them, he used his bare hands and crushed them down with ease..... okay jk ! Actually, he took it upon himself and used his teeth on the spot to close the crimp (If i remmeber correctly the one used to tap into the power). Anyways, big props and thanks to Shiv! The v3 has been working fine since and i havnt heard any odd buzzing noises since. Ill be runing my car around this week incase if it comes back but so far so good !

The same exact thing happened to the guy that purchase my V3 off of me.
It happened when I installed it for him and I was stumped since it worked perfectly fine on my car. What I did to solve the problem was to isolate the power sources. Initially, all power sources were wired to the switched power (orange wire). I wired the procede hot wire to the fuse, and the relay and the resistors to the switched power. I don't know what Shiv did, but this will also work.
