Question Custom Satellite Radio (XM and/or Sirius) Install

Guys,

I don't want to pay $1k to have the Sirius unit installed to my nav system for 2 reasons:

1. It's approx. $1k....
2. Sirius and XM merged, so I probably won't get a-la-carte on the old hardware.

Thoughts on doing a custom install via the AUX input? I am thinking about putting it in the ash tray. It'll definitely be under $1k.

Has anyone done this? Am I stupid?

Thanks,
Michael

Sorry to burst your creative bubble, but people have been doing this for years. You'll find a few variations documented in the DIY section.

Some people need to keep some comments to themselves.

Anyways. I hope this helps.

Thumbs up

No problem. I'll definitely post pics if I do a custom job. I hope to look at some options this weekend with a car-audio place.

I installed mine for $49.99. Took an hour and a half because I was drinking beer.
