Nitto NT0-1 (or any R-comp) track setup – square or staggered?

As mentioned in the track forum, I want to go with a sticker setup for track days. Today I run Falken Azenis 235/265’s without a problem on the stock 18s.

For the NT0-1s my size choices and places to buy them from are pretty limited. According to Nitto’s website, they only offer…

225/40/18
235/40/18
245/40/18
275/40/18
275/35/18

Id love to go square with 255s all around but they don’t carry that. Looks like my choices are 245/275, or 245 square.

1) Is anyone running this 245/275 staggered setup at the track, and if so, does it push bad?

2) If not, for those running 245 around, do you think that’s enough tire considering I currently have more rubber on the road as it is (granted its not an R comp).

3) If there is another option (different tire) that is in the same class as the Nitto's we can explore that as well.

Thanks!

For track use, i would go with the square 245 setup. The 245/275 setup will cause some understeer. What about BFG R1, or Hoosier R6, or Michelin PS cup?

I keep hearing that the NT0-1s last a fairly long time and stay sticky throughout. The R6s start out sticky and go down hill. As far as the other ones... I havent looked into it.

So are you guys running those narrow 245s all around?

Man, no way would I run 245s all around. That's just not enough tire, especially on the front in my humble opinion.

+1 245 may not be enough depending on the amount of power you have. R888 has 255s, it should be similar to NT01.

NT-01s are the choice of many weekend warriors because they're reasonably priced. However, friend of ours who run the R888 say they work great and are worth the money. 255 or 265 all around would be a hot setup.

Im definatley making good power, with V3, catless downpipes, intake, and soon catless midpipes. How are the wear characteristics of the R888?
