Tire size BMW 330ci sport package

I have a 2001 330ci Sport Package, the original tire sizes are; Front 225/45-17
Rear 245/40-17... I just replaced the front, the tires are a little bit higher than the rear..I was told cause the front is 45 not 40 as the rear, I never noticed before but then I wasn't looking. is that normal?

Those two tires are almost the exact same height, but different widths:

225mm (section width) / 25.4 = 8.86"

8.86" x .45 (aspect ratio) x 2 + 17 (rim diameter) = 24.97" total height

245mm (section width) / 25.4 = 9.86"

9.86" x .40 (aspect ratio) x 2 + 17 (rim diameter) = 24.88" total height

Its less than .1" difference, or about .33%.
