bmw yellow performance springs
have a 08 335i sdn with factory sports suspension and miro 19 inch csl reps. getting the bmw performance suspension (front struts/ rear shocks) . I know they are compatible with the factory sports springs but I am considering getting the bmw yellow springs. Does anyone know for sure if the springs lower the car any? I have heard spring rates are the same but just a bit lower and I have also heard they are the same as the factory sport springs just painted yellow. any input on this? Will a slight lowering (possibly 5mm or so - if thats the case) cause any issues with CSL's 33 offset in the rear?

I am looking at the performance suspension and springs too. There are conflicting posts here regarding the performance springs: they are just ZSP springs painted yellow Vs they decrease ride height compared to ZSP springs. I tried to look up the part numbers on realoem, but unfortunately, the part number for the ZSP springs does not show up. I guess this is because ZSP is not standard on the e90.

I also talked with my dealer on that for clarification...parts manager thought they were the same spring. Emailed another dealer in the east, and they sent an email to BMW, they could not say for sure. This kept me from purchasing them. Hope this helps.

I just check my rear spring, it has a marking saying D5. I have a 2008 E90 with sport package.
So, do I have sport springs???? Last edited by Josephkao; 10-22-2008 at 11:29 PM.. |

I am also inclined to opt out of the springs. The yellow paint, if that is the only difference, is not worth >$300. Jason with Tischer mentioned that he does not know if there is any difference but BMW recommends they go with the performance suspension kit. at 1addicts.com, there is a thread with pictures of the black ZSP springs and the yellow springs; to my eye the yellow springs looked slightly thicker, but I don't know if that is real or if that makes any difference.

Well, if you have sports package, you should have the ZSP spring. That marking does not provide any useful info, but if you find the part number (11 digits), you can look it up on realoem or Tischer website.
