I just had this happen to me last night when I was washing my car. I was tripping but then remembered that I had the key in my pocket but when I took it out the same thing was happening. My wife was getting pissed because it's a new car but then I figured out it was only when water was being sprayed on the door handles...

I've had my car for ten days now and I have a CA problem that I suspect is also a bonehead, operator error problem:

When I unlock my car, all my doors unlock. (Without any problems, I might add.) So, I put my purse on the floor behind me, on the floor of the back seat. When I get out of the car, only the driver's side door unlocks. So... I have to get back in the car and push the unlock button on the dash to open the other doors so that I can get my purse.

What do I have set wrong?

How do you get out in the first place without pushing the unlock button on the dash?

I actually had to go drive around the block to make the car lock to test this! (And some damn Mini going around the curve at about 50 almost hit me as I was backing out. That would have been humiliating!)

I have CA. I approach the locked car & touch the front driver's side door. All four doors unlock. I put my purse (w/ the fob in it) behind me on the floor of the back seat. I start the car w/ the start button; I don't insert the fob in the slot. All four doors lock once I start to drive.

When I stop the car, I turn it off w/ the stop button. I open the driver's door by touching the driver's inside door handle. It unlocks (I have to touch it twice before it opens.) But when the lock clicks open, only the driver's side front door opens. The other three stay locked.

Weird, huh?

Wait a second. By touching do you mean pulling? I have to pull my inside door handle once to disengage the lock and then a second time to actually open the door. Are you saying all you do is touch, as in place your hand on the inside door handle and it unlocks without pulling it?

Yes, I mean pulling, although you don't have to pull it all the way.

I looked in the manual again and there doesn't seem to be a setting for what I want it to do. I think I will just have to get in the habit of using the center button to unlock all the doors. I have it set to lock all the doors while driving (a good safety measure for a woman driving alone), and they don't all unlock once the car is stopped. That's inconvenient for getting my purse out of the back seat, but again-probably a good safety measure for a woman driving alone.

That's correct that the E90 does not automatically unlock when you stop. You should get in the habit of hitting the button to unlock all doors after you stop, if you want all doors to be unlocked. The 2x pull thing is universal (I think) for all BMWs, and is not a CA thing. It works the same way on the passenger side door.

You will find that the best way is just to put you keys somewhere away from the car. Not only does it go though the locking sequence with water spray but also when you are trying to wash and dry it.

on the handle for your directionals, there should be a button to push in. that will bring up a series of options you can scroll through(shown where the outside temp and the time are seen on the dash). you'll have to find the section in the manual that talks about this as i am not sure which signals you will have to access to change these features.

on mine, i set it for all four doors unlock with CA, and my doors do not lock while driving.
