SP Multifunction Steering Wheel Cover

Couple months ago my toddler fund her self seating at the drivers seat with a bottle of freshly made warm milk which she saw fit to let the steering wheel taste some, I caught her as she was starting to empty the milk all over the place and pretty much prevent a big headache from happening.

However after the incident, once I wiped the mess off of the wheel
It never felt the same and even worse it started to peel off and looked awful

So I Decided to get a new cover, I thought about getting another OEM but I end up going with the Bimmian Carbon fiber one.

I would like to Thank Bimmian19 for his thorough DIY on the Whole wheel
The only problem that I had was the Airbag removal, couldn’t figure out where the springs were
Or see them and from what I understood after reading couple threads I was not alone,
To get to the springs we “must” penetrate the leather cover ….

Tools Used

T-20: for removing the screws behind the wheel and releasing the multifunction button housings off the cover
Flathead: for penetrating the leather cover and compressing the springs
10mm: for releasing the negative Battery connection

Difficulty: 3 out of 10
Time: 15 Mins

Downsides?:
Nothing major. The Bimmian CFB Cover states 100% OEM Fit, However I had to trim off a bit of the CFB on the Left and Right side Multifunction button housings in order to make them fit perfectly.

Enough abc’s enjoy the pics:

Wheel looks great. Would probably look even better with some more carbon fiber.

Do you really have to lance the wheel like that?!? Can't be.

The finish on my wheel is starting to peel as well. 12k miles on the clock.

Thx, The M3 Wheel is next and Planning on changing the Interior trim to CFB as well

As far as the wheel, Yes but is realy not that bad at all, once you pull the flathead off you can't even see it

Thanks for posting pics. I have the M3 tri-color stitched wheel and was thinking about the CF cover as well. I like this one as it retains the metal trim pieces. This is the first picture I've seen of the CF cover and it looks good.

It matches way better if you see it in person, the camera flash reflected of the CFB too much and it kinda makes it look a bit off, but it def looks spot on in person

peeling is caused by any oils on your hands, just a lil fyi.

So you have to poke a hole through to unload the spring?

The holes are already there - one on each side. They're quite well concealed and you'd never notice them unless you were looking for them.
