Ultimate Drive: Turnersville

Well after trudging through the traffic in Philadelphia from that wild "GO PHILLIES" parade, I made it to Turnersville in hopes to try the new M3. That didn't happen. 4 clutches? 2 transmissions? WTH are you guys doing to this car?! They had pulled it to have its 3rd tranny put in. So much for bulletproof! Oh well I will follow them to Main Line and maybe even Ottos to get a chance in that beast.

Anyone else show up there or going to any future ones?

Same story in Princeton on Thursday with the M3. I guess that's what happens when you let any old clown drive it.

It was my first time at the event and I came away a little disappointed at how they run it. What's the point of signing up early for timeslots if they don't make any effort to have the car available for you sometime reasonably close to the time you reserved? I had limited availability that day and never got to drive the 550i I signed up for (rode shotgun in the B7 though). It's for a good cause and all that, and they're obviously free to run it however they want, but if reservations mean nothing for any car other than the B7 and Ms then just say so from the beginning.

Yea I have been going for 7 years now and learned that signing up really means nothing which is why I don't anymore. This year however it DID matter since they had the B7 and M3 avail (or not.) When I went to drive the B7 they asked if I signed up and they touted that I was not signed up for it and therefore not allowed. Practically no one was there! Oh well.

Well, I know the drill now. Hopefully it will fall on a lighter day at work next time.

I got my friend to sign up for the B7 (I'm not 30 yet) and that was fun, but it was hard to get a feel for the car from the passenger seat. That car seemed to be sitting around more than others because people who signed up for it weren't even there.

They also shut down all driving for a "quick presentation" at 1:00 that hadn't even started at 1:15 when I had enough and left. Never got to see what that was about.
