Can I still order a 330xi?

I would like to buy this summer or in early fall and am pretty much set on the 330xi with sport and premium. No 6MT's to test at the dealer, so I am still a bit undecided on the tranny.

I know the new 07s are coming soon but I gather that the 335xi sedan is down the road in the spring.

I found the 325xi to be a bit sluggish (should not have taken that Subaru STI test drive earlier) and I assume the 2006 330xi would still be stronger than the 328xi that I believe comes along at September launch.

If model changeover is in Sept., is BMW still taking orders for 06's or is everyone on holiday in August?

I absolutely love my 330xi with 6MT. Everyone has different definitions of speed, but I felt it pulled pretty hard up to about 120 or so (limit of my bravery on the deserted road I was on).

I think you should still be able to get a custom ordered 330xi. I've heard production stops in August, so you better act quickly if you don't want to wait for the new 328 engine.

FWIW, I get ~29.5mpg in mostly highway driving. Instantaneous mpg at 85mph with cruise control set is about 34mpg on flat roads. This is all at ~6000', which may influence those numbers... less engine power, but less air resistance too. Overall, I'm impressed, given the sticker of 20/28. (I did get 18.7 for a tank that I was flogging the car around town, but that's to be expected)

I just ordered a 07 330xi for October delivery.
Far as I know the switch over to 335xi is 2008?

The 330xi will be 2006 model only. If you are getting a 330xi, it will definitely be a 2006. October delivery will still be MY2006 vehicles for the most part.

The 2007 xi model will be the 328xi for the E90 and E92. It is unclear when the 335xi will be launched - it might come out in 2007 as a 2007 (midyear).
