Will removing RFT tires from the rims damage the tires ?

Hi,

I ordered some 17" winter tires and I plan to install them on the existing rims (17" M Sport rims with summer RFT performance tires). This is because of cost reasons and also I like the aestehics of the existing rims very much and I don't want a change for now (and a set is very expensive). I heard some rumors that removing RFT tires from the rims can cause tire damage. Is this true ?

I've had RFT's unmounted and remounted on my 330, no problems.

It is possible to tear the sidewall on a tire while dismounting it when prying the sidewall over the lip of the wheel. Due to the extra stiff sidewalls on RFT's, it is more likely than on a regular tire, but more than likely you'll get away with it.
