BMW Wheel Rim Brush...Am I missing something here?...

First, I should start off by saying that yes, I did purchase the kit.

Now I this may sound totally retarded, but can someone tell me how I'm supposed to use the wheel rim brush that came with it?

over time, the brush will sofen up and flair out, you just use it to clean the wheels. simple.

So I just spray the rim cleaner on...and then take the brush and run it over the rims? I tried that, and it seemed to be an awful lot of work with little to show for it.

Spray on Eagle 1 Tire & Wheel Cleaner, let set for 10 secs, then blast away with Karcher electric power washer,.

I have used this method for both on my E-46's, with a collective 160K no negatives to this method, just constantly clean wheels, with a minimum of labor.

The results you get will be more dependant on the wheel cleaner than the brush. Assuming it's a non-caustic, non-acidic wheel cleaner odds are you'll need to do some serious agitating to achieve results.

If you do not have chrome or aluminum wheels I highly suggest doing what stubenhocker mentioned; get a caustic or acidic wheel cleaner (in his case, Eagle Ones Tire & Wheel Cleaner is caustic); spray on, let sit 45 seconds, rinse off.
