[Advice] - Steering / Wheels / Alignment ?
Hi
My car steering has started to wander about when moving slowly, its got to be something simple like the alignment, tyre wear etc, symtoms below : If I drive along at 10 mph and brake slowly and if the road is slightly off camber, the car will try to pull left or right (depending on the camber), this isn't just a slight movement, in the last couple of feet before stopping the steering will turn up to a quarter of a revolution ? I'm positive I would expect to be able to brake in a straight line without needing to hold tightly onto the steering wheel ? Any thoughts, the tyre pressures seem fine and there are not RunFlat messages .... BoBBoB |

Hi,
I haven't noticed issues that you describe, I tend to hang on to the wheel, however I do have some problems with directional stability and some lack of precision in lower speed corners. Since I have new non RFT 19" Michelin PS2 correctly inflated, I'm going to get an alignment check done in the next week or so. BMW quoted £200, but a local tyre place with Hunter KDS machinery have quoted a max price of £75 and that could be less depending on what needs to be adjusted. You can search for a local agent if you Google Hunter KDS. (Thanks Kend) Good luck. |
