everyone's entiled to their opinions, and tires have been advancing so the re50's may be just as good or better than your old summer perf tires.

The grip on the re-50's is much much better than the Pirelli euphoria's, but I'm thinking that there's some more grip to be had yet. I go through tires pretty frequently so I'll let everyone know when I pull my re-50's for some high performance non runflat rubber (on the Z)

If you choose to go with non-runflat tires, you could use something like fix-a-flat or a mobility kit similar to what they use on the M3 or the newer Porsche cars. Some others have simply tied down a spare tire in the trunk when taking long trips. For me, I'll just stick with the runflats.

I'm thinking about sticking to the RFTs too...Just want to get a different rim when I get my car.
What RFT do you guys recommend concerning most comfortable ride, lowest noise etc. ?

I will definitely get the sport package, now I have to decide on the sedan or coupe!!
If you're expecting a baby soon and this is your main ride, I think the decision is already made for you. Get the 335i sedan! It'll be the closest thing to an M3 sedan for quite a while since the E36.

On my E46 I have a spare, the carpet lifts up and it's hidden under with the jack. The E90 doesn't have this?
Ya, BMW should have provided a compartment at least large enough to accomodate a spare tire at least to give us consumers an option to run regular non-RFT's. As it is the hole underneath the trunk mat is just 20% too small...

No, there's no official room for a spare tire on the E90. Originally I though that this, along with the lack of a tactile metal key for starting were bad things, but now I think this is ok. (I still don't like the lack of a dipstick; what if the oil level sensor goes bad?)

I'm happy with the RFT - I don't have any way to compare it to non-RFT in terms of driving performance effects because this is my first BMW, but the main plus for me is the peace-of-mind knowing that the car can be driven to a secure location if there's a flat tire. I've changed tires before on my old car and it was a real pain in the ass (especially in hot weather - I hate hot weather.)

I do notice the car feels rougher over bumps if the tire pressure is not kept at full levels.

part of the reason they took the spare away was to make room for vehicle componants, I'm sure there's stuff in the way of making that hole bigger
