Detailing Clay

Are there any preferences to detailing clay? Is one brand better than another? Or are they all pretty much the same?

meh. it's all kinda subjective

sonus is aggressive, not soft, hard to mold
zymol ... haven't tried
swissvax ... on order
mother's soft, weak, not aggressive, takes a lot of effort to clay your car clean
same with meg's OTC one

clay magic blue - this one's nice. it's soft and isn't as aggressive as sonus, but it's miles ahead of OTC mother's and meg's

I have used the Chemicalguys clay with pretty good success. Clay magic is good as well.

There's also sonus green which is very mild, good for using when you're not doing any polishing. My favorite is probably Meguiars Mild Blue clay.
