BB gun in NY question...

I am very curious what if you get caught (by cops) with a BB gun in NY? Do you go to jail? or they'll let you go, I know all BB guns should all have the orange/red paint at the tip, will I get into trouble if I erase the orange paint on the tip so it'll look like a real gun?

why even allow the chance of a police officer mistaken it for a real gun and pull a gun on you loaded...just plain stupid...leave it home

no I don't have it with me... but just curious if the charge will be the same as carrying a real one. But it's good to know like you guys said I'll not carry it with me or leave it at home to bust myself.

what good would a bb gun do you?

if you're planning on pulling it out on someone, painting the tip black will a) get you shot with a real gun if the person has it, or b) get you shot by the cops.

even airsoft guns are illegal in NYC.

When he brandished it in the hallway of his Harlem apartment building, it was just something to help scare some cash out of a burger joint deliveryman. But the deliveryman turned out to be a cop, and when Newsome pulled the fake gun, the cop's partner shot the 17-year-old three times in the chest, killing him.

Don't even risk something like that... You gotta be crazy to do that. With how up tight people are these days, you're asking to get shot (with a REAL gun).

i got caught with the c02 one when i was 14-15.... cops just took it and called our parents. now if i was 18+ ...big trouble

not sure about NY, but in jersey BB guns are considered guns, if you get caught with one, you are charged with the same offense as if you got caught with a 9mm Glock.

Depending on what the cops want to do.In 06 I got pulled over with a dozen eggs and a bb gun on holloween.All they did was take my gun and smashed my eggs.Maybe outcome could have been different if it was a regular day.

If you;re over 18 and carry a BB gun or whatever fake gun it is. Im pretty sure youll get charged with some sort of robbery and get sent to rikers. LOL
