DIY TMap Sensor Replacement

bmwowner619 was interested in how to replace the tmap sensor without removing the stock airbox. I decided to make a thread from it in cas anyone else wants to know.

Id be gald to help. Its actually very easy. You will need to buy a replacement Tmap sensor (from jeff @eurobahn) and a torque screwdriver (size 20). The screw can be purchased from any sear's around your area.

1. Once you have the screwdriver you will need to position it and your arm to get the screw off. It is hard to remove the first time but a little elbow grease should do it. The back end of the screwdriver will be touching the frame of the car and should hold in place. I recommend that you tie a string around the screwdriver and your hand to keep it from falling into your engine bay.

2. Once you get both torque screws off, you will need to pull up hard on the tmap sensor. Just make sure you also so it slowly because you dont want your hand and tmap sensor to hit something and break. There is a little green plastic circle around the bottom of the sensor that keeps it in place. You should pull and wiggle it to pop it out.

3. After you pop the original tmap sensor off, take the new semsor and pop it into place. You will notice that the two holes on the sides of the tmap align perfectly with the screw holes. Screw them in tight and then reconnect the tmap plug into the sensor and your good to go.

Good Luck!

Post this in the DIY section, not general.

My car is in service for a few days. When I get it back and re install the SSTT, I will try to upload some pics. In the meantime, I recommend you wear a thin long sleeve shirt to avoid cutting up your forearms.
