They will still race in Europe, however.

Wow! I'm both happy and concerned. Audi was a huge support to the ALMS program here although they "stiffled" the competition with their deep pockets as well. I'm excited though because we'll see some great competition and possibly some folks returning to the program to fill Audi's place. Maybe Puegot?

Porsche and Acura plan to move to LMP1; maybe this year; I'm not sure. Frankly it was when BMW, Toyota, and Mercedes moved into F1, and Nissan went restructuring, that Audi became the only manfacturer in the top class, and started winning. LMP2 will become a true privateer's class.

They are producing a GT2-type racer so they would just need a customer over here. It would be a lot less expensive.

Edit: it's a GT3 racer; we don't have that class over here. It is a much more privateer-oriented class than even GT2.

I can see Audi pulling out. There hasn't been any competition for them for 10 years. They win everything in ALMS and when you constantly win how can you further develop on your car significantly? there's no one there to push you.

You'd most likely see them in Sebring because that is one of the best testing grounds for the 24 Hours of Le Mans; maybe Petit Le Mans as well.

Peugeot did give them a run for the money last year but alas reliability and experience kept Audi ahead.

I don't know if Audi would have been so successful if Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, and Nissan stayed.
