ScheerSpeed Detailed: 1985 Red Porsche Carrera
1985 Porsche Carrera
This car was picked up by the current owner two years ago. The current owner hasn't waxed since he bought the car because he was afraid of someone messing the paint up. But once he found me, he knew that i could take care of it. The car has 8x,xxx miles, and overall was in pretty decent condition for being 23 years old. it used to be garage kept, but now it is just kept outside under a car cover. Unfortunately the owner only wanted a two-step polish, so only about 90% of the defects were removed by 2-3 passes of SIP. some RIDE were still too deep to remove without compounding ![]() Exterior -Wash -CG CWC -Meg's mitt -Meg's APC+ (under front bumper, door jams) -Wheels -CG CWC -CG Citrus Sticky Gel -EZ detail brush -Swissvax wheel brush -OXO tire scrubber -ARO (tires) -Wheel Wells -Simple Green -Meg's Super Degreaser -Meg's APC+ -DD wheel well brush -Black shMITT Clay -CG Gray clay -ONR lube Polishing -Exterior paint -Menzerna SIP via Orange 3M pad @ 1000-2000RPM (2-3 passes) -Menzerna PO85RD via blue 3M UK Ultrafina pad @ 1500-2000RPM -Makita 9227C -3M Yellow Foam Backing Plate -1000w halogen lights -ISA 50/50 wipedown -DD Uber MF towels -Wheels -Mother's Billet polish -SIP LSP -Paint -Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite -Rubbish Boy's Original Edition -FK1 # 425 -CG 530XL MF towels -Wheels -CG jetSEAL 109 -FK425 -CG Barebones (wheel wells) -Optimum Opti-bond (tire gel) -Rubber -1Z Gummi Pflege -Black WOW -CG Fade2Black Glass -Stoner's Invisible Glass Interior -CG Lightning Fast -CG Leather Cleaner -Swissvax Leather brush -1Z Cockpit Premium -Zaino Z10 The paint had a lot of oxidation...and some deep RIDS ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Before i got started with the paint i cleaned the carpets using CG Lightning fast and the drill brush attachment. ![]() ![]() ![]() now to start washing the wheels. Look at how the ARO lifts all the dirt out of the tires!!! ![]() After wash and clay ![]() ![]() i can tell that this car had been polished before because there were burnt edges all over the place... ![]() ![]() ![]() The owner opted for a two-stage polish, which i use SIP on an orange pad and follow it up with 85RD. ![]() Now some before and after pictures ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() with the 1-stage paint i could only polish 1-2 panels per pad because the paint clogged up the pad so quick!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() a few 50/50 shots! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I called it a night at 10PM after finishing with SIP. the next morning i arrived at my customer's house at 7:30AM, gave the car a wipedown with ISA alcohol, and got started polishing with 85RD. In this picture, the front fender is polished with 85RD, and the door is polished with SIP. look at the difference in the gloss! ![]() some shots after polishing with 85RD ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now that i was done with the paint, the rims needed some serious attention. i decided to go wit hMother's billet polish for te aluminum, and SIP by hand on the black painted part. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After polishing the wheels i gave them a wipedown with ISA alcohol and applied a generous coat of CG jetSEAL 109. after doing that, i applied Lime Prime Lite and followed that with Rubbish Boy's Original Edition Wax to the paint. While i let the wax settle, i went to work on the interior. The interior hasn't been cleaned (only vacumed) since the owner bought the car. i decided to use CG leather cleaner with the Swissvax leather brush to clean all of the leather upholstery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() after doing the interior, i removed the wax, wiped down with cold water, and wiped with FK425. Finished pictures!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() this car gets pretty good MPG's! ![]() thats all! thanks for looking!!! I've often wondered how you guys polish around stuff like the badge here. I assume you're not just running the rotary over the badge. Do you polish by hand right around the letters?

Also - one more question. I'm going to be polishing my car this weekend, and I'll probably ONR wash and (less diluted) ONR for clay lube. You'd mentioned in another thread that some polish acts funky when you clay using ONR. I'm not sure what that means. I'll be using IPA wipedown after clay, prior to polish. Will that take care of any "issues"?

When I saw the badge, I was thinking of asking the same thing! I always struggle around the badges. Makes debadging an even better idea. |

![]() ![]() ![]() If this is a real question, take a look above the photo for the description. But now, when I read it, it says "Lightning Fart" on it! Also - thanks to musc for the answer above. I hope Scheer or others give some tips on polishing around things like badges.

How do you like the CG drill brush? I was thinking about buying it to clean the mats in the back. They're real dirty. Was thinking about getting the heavy duty brush with the red bristles.
