Sealing & Waxing

I have read that applying a sealant to the finish and then waxing helps bring out extra shine with the added benefit of longer protection. Has anyone done this and is there any truth to this?

I usually do a two step LSP process on most cars. It not an uncommon thing to do especially with daily drivers. Normally a garage queen gets only a wax or sealant, but it all depends on what the customer wants.

The sealant provides durability and the protection and the wax topper is to add depth and wetness. The wax will add some protection but usually does not last long, hence the sealant underneath

Will any sealant and wax combination work? I running with Zymol Creame wax until I run out of it (and until I save up all my pretty pennies) and get my hands on some swissvax. Will Klasse work with Zymol? I'm pretty new to this advanced detailing scene and would like to get my new '09 Alpine White 335i looking it's best. Especially during these winter months! Thanks again for the tips!

I think you can top most any sealant with a 'nuba wax. I have used Klasse AOI/SG combo topped with P21S without any issues. One thing I always make sure I do is allow the sealant to 'cure' at least 24 hours before applying this wax. This may not be necessary with all sealants, but I always do it out of habit.

Most sealants do have a cure, you just have to find out what it is! Musc is right, generally they are 12 hours.

Make sure the wax you are using as a topper does not have clean properties in it.
