Maybe a stupid wheel question...

Hey folks please do not flame me on this as I know nothing about wheels and such...

I have a 325 with SP and the wheels are the 17" 161 wheels. Can I put 18" or 19" wheels and keep the same tires? Or is it like sticking a square peg in a round hole? Not really sure here so flame away...
