Just installed DVD/Navigation/sirius!!!!
Just finished installing an Alpine IVAD310 with navigation NVEN872A and sirius tuner. This deck is AMAZING it does soooooo much and sounds way better than the stock deck even with all of the factory speakers and factory amp. I would say the navigation software is better than Idrive and does more also, I have used both now. If you don't have Idrive but want nav. I would def. advise this mod. If you are ordering a car and don't want to upgrade the sound system, then I would say just get the Idrive option because it does look better inside the car. But if you have intentions of upgrading then by all means do this. The install was fairly easy but took forever. This car is built much better than the e46's were I can tell you that much. Enjoy!!
btw, I do not have the logic7 system, just the basic one. I have a JL500.1 and 300.4 with a 10W7and alpine x-type speakers waiting to be installed also. Ran out of time today. Everything apart. Rear seats out with wierd things attached to rear seat belts, I think these things do something if you get in an accident. Close up of radio hole. Remote mounted brain and sirius reciever Close up of tapping into the factory amp wires from the Alpine headunit. more wires Blurry pic of unit I took while I was driving...

Nav. brain = $1699 Sirius rec. = $99 I work for a retailer of Alpine so I got accomodation prices which dropped the total to about $1800 for everything. It took about 8 hours to do everything. Much more stuff was involved in the install than what was pictured. Prepare to spend about $450 for a shop to do it.

question
Can you drive and use the DVD player at the same time? Also, do you need to have the NAV cd inserted the whole time you are using the nav portion? I know most nav systems have a safety feature installed that enables you to use the DVD player during motion.

yes you can use nav and dvd at the same time, the nav. disc is hidden in the trunk with the nav. brain, it is mounted under the rear deck. With a simple switch mounted in the ash tray, I can drive and watch movies Some new units have gyro's built in and there is no way to bypass them.

I was thinking of putting a indash nav unit like yours in my 330. Problem is, its a lease. If I did would it be able to go back to 100% stock with the controls working again??
Thanks for the info!! |
