Treo 700W tricks

I got a Treo 700W about 3 weeks ago and had a hell of a time getting the thing to work right with the car so I thought I'd pass on what I did so others don't have to feel my pain. It works great now.

1) Important: Don't pair the phone with the car until you've done the other items listed. Keep the Bluetooth on the phone turned off until you're ready. When I didn't do these things first I had various problems, it would link but wouldn't dial out or receive calls, additions/changes to speed dial numbers wouldn't upload, constantly pair and unpair the car was on and sometimes in the middle of calls.

2) The phone will only move the speed dial numbers. Build all the numbers you need before pairing. When you build the speed dial number you have the option of linking to the contact. DON'T use it. Build the speed dial name and number by hand. The car will have problems using the number the way it is formatted when you link the number to a contact. When you link to a contact the number will look like this (XXX) XXX-XXXX on the radio (I don't have NAV), build the number by hand so it looks like this XXXXXXXXXX. Mine would not dial the number if in the first format.

3) Rebuild the preset voicemail speed dial number. Same issue as above, the preset voicemail number is in the wrong format.

4) Change the name of your Treo if you want, then don't rename it after you've paired it. If you have to do a hard reset make sure you name it exactly the same as before. The car will have issues with a different name, mine paired then wouldn't pair again, then wouldn't get rid of the old name on the radio when I got it to pair so it wouldn't dial out most of the time and would constantly unpair. I had to unhook the battery cable for 15 minutes to finally get the car to find the phone and display the right name when it found it.

That's all I have for now. As I see new things I will add them and please feel free to add things if you have something you've found.
