1st major issue with my 335d LCI

ok....i'm really upset know....

Couple of weeks ago i was driving peacefully and suddenly all the possible lights on my dashboard turn on and i start receiving numerous messages on my Idrive pointing out the failure of all the major systems (FTM, ABS, DSC, etc.) and of course none of them was actually working! I turned off the engine and started it again but nothing happened, all the errors were still there.
I went to the service next day and after 1 full day of intense searching they concluded the one ABS sensor was not working; they told me that they have to order it and it will take couple of days to get to them....it arrived after 2 weeks and 2 days!!! and through all this time i had do drive around with no ABS or DSC which of course was terrible!
The bad news at that moment was that after they installed the new ABS sensor the systems were still not working. They then changed some kind of electronic ball bearing from that wheel…still with no result. They called a “BMW expert” guy which was like the head of the technical staff of BMW Romania who suggested to re-write all the cars software! ECU, ABS/DSC computer, gearbox, etc.
When I heard this I really went nuts, I couldn’t believe what was happening to my 2 months old 335d! Sadly, after this software reinstall, my car was still not working. These happened on Friday morning (Dec 19th). In they afternoon, they came up with a new idea: that some kind of media converter of the data that is read from the wheel and sent to the ABS computer broke down and should be replaced! Another bad news was that there are 15% chances for that part to arrive on Monday (which is their last day of work), if not the earliest date possible to install is January 5th!!!!
I’m very very upset that my car broke down after only 2 months of owning and only 9000km.

The Romanian dealership is the most awful place to take your BMW to but since it’s the only place you can go during the warranty period, I didn’t have what to do.

What do you guys think I should do? I mean how long will I have to accept this if they don’t come up with something?

Thank for reading!

sorry to hear this Andrei, sounds like a major malfunction of something.

Have they loaned you a car? If your really worried about the romanian BMW dealers then take it back to Germany. I know thats a pain in the arse, but they will probably be able to solve the issue much quicker.

There isn't anything wrong with Carl's geography, on this occasion- Andrei picked the car up from BMW Germany.

You could contact BMW Germany directly, Andrei, & speak to Customer Services to see what they can do for you.

I'm sure they would like to do the best for you, considering you collected your car from them directly.
You should tell them that you are not happy that you are being forced to make use of the car whilst it is in its current state & would be far happier with a loan vehicle until it is fixed appropriately.

If you are unhappy with the service you are being provided by the Romanian dealership, then make sure you let BMW Germany know about it, as they can & will do something about it.

All the best & good luck.

Sorry but I wouldnt put 1600 (?) ish miles on a car because a local dealer was having problems fixing an issue. make a stink and as above complain to BMW hq.

also worth pointing out to them that you are driving an "unsafe" car, and if you have an accident, you will sue. So please can they A) sort it, and B) loan you a car whilst they do...

thank you!
you are all right....but unfortunately i'm stuck in this Holiday season and can't do much. As soon as the beginning of January I will address BMW hq. in Germany directly!

the thing is that my Quaife LSD is on it's way and unless I get this DSC/ABS problem fixed i wouldn't like to install it.....

i have experienced something very strage in the last couple of days: when i drive normally it seems that the gearbox changes from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th gear too late, it revs up the engine too much while i don't push the gas that much...
i know i may sound paranoid, but is there a chance the the bmw service has reinstalled my gearbox's computer software wrong?

The cars have become so complex, the mechanics are really passengers who can only do what it said in the "repiaring-manual". it has gone to the extent, that they just replaced EC modules to find the solution. from that point of view, i dont think the dealership that sold you the car will be able to help you. and even if they can, dont expect to see results immediately, it would take couple of days...

good luck

This sounds like the revised running characteristics to perform the cleaning cycle of the Dpf

Have you spoken to the BMW retailer you got the car from?
