Mileage till next service reset by itself?

Hello, I'm new at this posting stuff.

I have a 2008 e92 and I noticed that the miles to my first service was steadily counting down. About a month ago, it was down to 4000 miles to the first service then all of a sudden since last week, it says 12000 miles.

Why would this have reset?

Just took my car to the dealer and they said the computer needs to be re-programmed. Something went wrong with the system!

Yeah, the service advisor said he's never seen that happen before.

just happened to me. it said 6000 miles to oil service and now it says 15000 miles to oil service, 50000 to rear brakes and 30000 to front brakes (all round numbers) Brakes before were 32000 and 21000 respectively

What gives???

My oil change interval has been at 38,000 for 4 months and my front brake shows replacement in 6000 even though the pads have 80% left. Too much electronic gadgetry on these IMO.
