I-Drive
I have had my new baby around six weeks now and love the idrive but I need to ask a couple of questions to verify a a couple of queries I have.
In navigation can you just have the large screen and not have the assistance window on? I know you can make it just a blank square but I seem to remember when I first put the nav on it was one large map, or was I mistaken? Also when I connect my ipod to aux is it supposed to list the tracks or just say auxillary input as mine does? Cheers |

As I don't have my 335i yet (or a 330i), I don't know about the first question, but surely you could just have the map take up the whole thing as I'm sure I recall photos of it.
As far as the Aux input... yes, the I-drive will only show Aux input and NOT display the titles and tracks, etc, and the steering wheel controls will NOT control the IPOD. You have to do that directly on the IPOD. BUT to control the IPOD via steering wheel and show the IPOD info on the I-drive screen you have to get the dealer installed option for the IPOD integration. (Search the forums as there's a number of threads already on this -- here's one thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...highlight=IPOD) In short, this is not yet available... supposedly "soon"... original release was supposedly July of 06, but that has come and gone and people are still waiting for it with no word or update. Hope this helps. |

A quick note... the July/06 release date was for the US as I think the US was the first market for that IPOD adapter. Europe is sometime later (but I don't know how much 'later' that is).

When I have the map showing I usually put the assistance window to show location or the arrow display. When I'm in an area I've not travelled alot I like the arrow display because it gives me an indication of what the intersections look like and it counts down the distance. Othewise I have it showing the GPS information. Most of the time I have the Entertainment display up if nothing more than to get rid of the nefarious ACCEPT display.
