335I 2 Yr Service and Maintenance
Well my car is just over 2 yrs old and have 26K miles on it and It went in for the yearly inspection and repairs. Here is the list of things I took it for besides the required inspection.
They had the car for over a week now, took them some time to convince themselves the waste gate was bad. Thanks to MR. 5 detail description of the problem I was able to keep them from updating the software to fix the problem and they acknowledged that BMWNA has service bulletin for this issue. I see if they did in fact not update the software since I told them not to touch it since I have the original code.. The best one was them trying to convince me that the radio had a setting for talk shows that would get rid of the cracking noise in the speakers. I almost busted out laughing at that one. They then try telling me the flashing compass was normal when other car headlight's shine on the sensor. Which I told them it was not and just started happening. It sounds like they plan to replace the steering wheel since they told me they order some interior trim items, I wonder if they found other things wrong I did not see. I am still arguing with them about changing the oil, they will not do unless there is between 14k and 17k miles on the oil and I only have 12k since the last change. I am like just change the damn oil save me a trip back in two months. When I took the car in they had service indicator in the file that said the car needed the brake fluid flushed and the mircofilter replaced. I guess that is normal 24K mile service since I got no warning about it. I hate to say this, but I am glad this is all happen now under warranty, I never had a car which need so much done being two years old. I'll keep you posted on the if they fixed everything, they will have it for 2 weeks when it suppose to be done. |

Well got a call today the car was done....
Said the the waste gate was fixed, they were told by BMWNA not to replace the turbos since the software update will fix the problem. I explicitly told them not to update the software I did not want the problem people have been encountering with the new version. Well the did it anyway said it fixed the problem. They then call me back and said that the road tested the car again and the ticking is back so they are now authorized to replace the turbos/actuators. Needless to say I am the process of ripping the SA a new one for updating my software without tell me ahead of time and getting my approval. |
