Calgary dudes... question about banff

Hi, I frequent Calgary on a regular basis and up till now, I've never had the chance to visit the mountains. I've put aside this Saturday to hit up Sunshine Village.

My schedule is really really tight so Im trying to work this out in advance as much as possible. I was wondering how long the drive takes from downtown to Sunshine Village realistically. Its about 150 kms -- would 2 hours be OK??

2 hours is more than enough
Should be around 90 min (oh well...depends on the road condition and cops...ha)

Thank you, Sir.

I figured it would depend on road conditions. I may just hop on the shuttle bus instead of driving.

Shuttle?! Oh cmon, the drive from Calgary to Banff is really fun. Planning on taking my new car down that road since a BMW would handle really well on those winding roads.

But yeah watch out for radar on that stretch of highway. It's quite well enforced. I've made it there and back in about 90 mins consistently anyway.

Did that the past summer driving from Calgary to Jasper making overnite stops in Banff and Lake Louis. It is a wonderfully scenic drive along the highway and you should take your time to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, I will be in some p.o.s. rental but my colleague and I have decided to drive it ourselves versus taking the shuttle.

We want to get some skiing/boarding in because you guys have some real mountains vs our little mole hills. You guys are so freaking lucky!

Yes, yes we are very lucky!!

1st class ski mountains just 45 min away!!!

But yes, Sunshine isn't too far from Calgary at all. This weekend is supposed to be nice so I'd expect good road conditions and 90 min to Sunshine is pretty realistic.

Have fun!
