Strange Dash Warning Light

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone happens to know what the warning light lock over steering wheel symbol means. I figured obviously it must be locked steering wheel right but, it has never come on before and it completely disables my car. In other words, I can't start it or do anything. It also seems to be showing up much more frequently now. Finally, when i take the key out and try to start the car anew, it show up and won't let me start the car until the forth or fifth time if repeat trying to start anew. Any ideas guys?

Sounds like the electronic Steering Wheel Lock is malfunctioning. Do you hear the wheel lock engage and dis-engage when you get in the car/stop the car (I'm assuming you have CA).

I just ran across some other threads that address this issue. It seems I'm not the only one with this problem. And I apologize, what is CA? Also, I do hear a strange cranking sound almost like a chain sound. Any thoughts.

happened to me once i do have CA (comfort access) i tried couple times..i finaly got it to unlock and started the car

did you just replace your key? if your ley wasn't programed.. for example if you just picked it up..try pushing your key in...holding it for 15 seconds or so...and it wont happen again.

I am having the same problem, car is just over a year old now.

It started being intermittent about a month ago, now it is doing it 1 out of 3 times, and making a grinding noise like the lock cannot disengage.

how often do you guys put the key in the dash??

it might need to be recharged.. so it can give stronger signal
