The one BMW sells is "based on the Nuvi 360". Only thing that sucks about this setup is that the dash needs to be drilled....ouch.

mounted my Nuvi 350 into the ashtray/coinholder... drilled it to the removable ashtray... perfect spot, out of sight and no wires hanging around...
I'll look for the pics now..

I don't see how a 350 will not work in the bracket designed for 360. The only difference is 360 bracket has an external mic jack for the bluetooth. 350 only need power and ground pins which is identical to 360.

I was just about to say put in the ashtray that is what I do with my TomTom. I actually like it much better there since it does not distract you while your driving especially at night. Since it provide voice turn by turn you really do not have to look at that closely all the time.

Easy Way To Power And Mount GPS!!!
Just get this:
![]() ![]() It looks low, but it's actually near my line of sight and in easy reach. The GPS also has no problem getting a signal from there unlike the old days when they wouldn't work unless they had a clear view of the windshield. What's great about it is that you just plug it in to the socket and it charges and mounts in one quick move. When you park, just pull the whole thing out of the socket and stick it in the glove box and there will be zero evidence of GPS is left in view to tempt smash and grab artists. It also is not in a dangerous position to hit you in the face in a crash. |

Has anyone installed the one that mounts to the screws that hold the seat on the floor of the car?

I have a Garmin 660 and it uses a plastic clip with a ball joint. Not sure about the 3xx series but the cheap 200's and 250's have a very basic top+bottom clip on. So yes, they can be different. I like e90phan's solution, going to ask my dealer if they have it.

The other issue that is a concern right now, today, is the permanent bracket mounted to the dash. Even if you remove the GPS and take it with you or hide it, it will be a sign telling car burgulars you have a GPS. They will assume you have hidden the GPS somewhere in the car, smash the window and then rummage through the car to see if they can find it. A mount that's quick and easy to completely remove and hide makes more sense unless you never plan to park the car in a public parking lot or city street |

I'm after something similar. I want to find a nice mount for my iphone 3g. I've got a kensington liquidaux on order which will both charge the iphone, and take an audio feed from it which is great but I'd like to mount the phone somewhere on the dash so that I can chose songs on it.
I could get a vent-mounted cradle and just run the dock cable to it, and that would be fine, but I'd rather get something nicer. what I'd love is a nice car cradle that has a dock plug at the bottom, and then a socket for me to plug a dock cable into. it doesn't need any other complicated electronics. then I need to work out where to mount it, but that should be easier to work out. I liked the kuda dashtop mount, but I've got idrive so it wouldn't fit. still not sure where in the car it should go that woudn't block anything and would be in a good position to use. Does anyone know of an iphone 3g mount that fits the above? brodit do a nice 3g mount, but with no dock connector and I've not found anyone else that does one. dave |

that said, I noticed that there is a dealer accessory for the 1 series that does the same for a reversing camera screen. there may be a 3 series dealer accessory for the same so perhaps the parts are out there. dave |

So how do you hear it at highway speeds? The internal speaker will be muffled with that mounting method and if you wire it to the stereo, then you can't play the radio. Looks slick and convenient, but I can see problems. Besides losing the A/C vent and slowing down cooling in the summer, the GPS is still in plain sight and some car burglars will still recognize it as a portable GPS, break in and rip it out of the dash. |

I'm going to mount a strong magnet underneath the panel that usually has the centre dash logic7 speaker in it. If I can attach some sort of metal circle to the suction cup, hopefully it will work.
No marks left on the window, no mounts screwed into dashboard, no tomtom going flying when the suction mounts falls of in the cold and it would be easy to mount. This is the theory anyway - I will let you know if I find a way of making the idea work! |

Done it - works great!
I bought a set of 5 round magnets off ebay. They are only about 15 x 3mm but REALLY strong. I mounted 3 of them stuck together (magnetically, one on top of the other) under the centre vent panel with a 3m sticky pad (the panel was easy to remove). The other 2 magnets fit inside the tomtom bracket after the suction mount section is detached. No sticking needed here - the magnets just drop out when I unscrew the mount to fit the suction cup if I need to use it in another car. No marks on the windscreen for theives to see and no messing about with stupid suction cups etc! |
