3M rubbing compound and buff swirls/holograms
Okay...so I went to the body shop today to have them remove the buff marks/holograms/swirls off the car. They did a great job EXCEPT they missed a spot on the hood. I really don't want to have to go all the way back there so I am wondering what you all think about me using 3M rubbing compound to remove the swirls. It's not that big of an area...Any suggestions on how I can remove it manually?

Do not use rubbing compound! You could make it worse if you do not have experience with it. Give Meguiars ScratchX a try (assuming you are working by hand). It might take some elbow grease but works rather well.

yeah dont do it. if you paid some place to do a job and you are not happy with it then take it back. if you do it yourself and mess it up more they will just laugh at you.

3m finesse-it II machine polish works well, but you'll have to use a portal cable with an orange pad. without a polisher, you're not going to get the swirls out.
stay away from rubbing compound.
