ABS failure
I was at the BMW performance center do a two day course. One activity was a timed autocross session, which you had to do a full ABS brake at the end. Car three was coming to the end and started the full ABS brake. However, he induced a four wheel lockup, the amount of tire smoke was amazing to watch. His car had a ABS failure, has anyone ever heard of this?
Also I noticed the active brake lights during our braking exercises, the brake light on the trunk is what lights up bright. It a clever feature. |

At our BMW Advanced Driving courses they have a switch in the car to turn off the ABS to teach you how to stop without it
Did those cars have something similar, and if so , maybe it was accidently turned off

When I did the teen school there was a switch in the glove box that turned of the ABS and the instrument cluster. But on this 2 day course, there was no such switch in the glove box from what I could see.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread. But when I was at the BMW Performance Center we had a similar thing happen. On the ABS braking run at 80MPH, someone managed to seize the brakes on one of the Z4s. They didn't simply not work but they seized and stayed locked to the wheels intermitently. So the car would roll a couple feet, then brake, then roll, then brake, all by itself. Most likely a warped rotor. But they beat those cars to death out there in Greenville.
