BMW X5 and X6 Designer Pierre Leclercq

Note how the design of the X6 has gotten much more daring and less SUV-like since the 2005 sketch.
Nothing like the boss dropping by and telling you to get crazier.

So the X6 is BMW's answer to the Infiniti FX? I have to say that I like it more than the FX, but that's not saying much. YMMV.

I'd suggest it's more a Q7 - XC70 competitor.

I can see that, although I'm still not feeling it. I guess that I'm pretty over the car-based SUV craze, although I'm probably in the minority. :iono:

I think you're in the majority- thus these new designs with low coupe-like roofs.
I do think BMW is a little late to the party with their SUV's and they've never struck me as leading the pack...more me-too.
The Infiniti/Audi nod is there but I believe this'll take it to the next uncharted level of brutal/grotesque design ( function left the building ).

This seems to be about haulin' ass and letting the little guy sniff your tailpipe.

That's a great line and pretty much sums up my feelings. As design exercises these are great, but I personally can't see buying one. But then again someone could argue why would anyone want a subcompact 2+2 with 300 hp, particulary in an area as congested as metro DC. Anyway, I'm all for choices just as long as it doesn't wreck the company, which would then result in no choices.

I should've noticed where you are. We lived at 14th & P NW for 5 years.
I saw a photo of the "new urban DC" in some mag and there was my apartment all gussied up-
not like in the good ol' Marion Barry days when we were there.

DC and the surrounding area has changed a lot during the past 20 years that I've lived here. I lived in DC and Olde Towne Alexandria for a while, but with 2 young kids suburbia makes more sense now.
