Here is the link to the old thread where we started discussing the Sidekick 3.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=sidekick

I guess we can continue the discussion here, this being the bluetooth forum.

...all I can say is that as of yet, I have had no luck using my Sidekick on my car's bluetooth. They do pair up, but thats it, have not been able to answer or make calls. I was told in the Hiptop forum that since the Sidekick's bluetooth capabilities are limited to hands-free device, it may NOT be possible to pair the Sidekick 3 and BMW together. This is their quote:

"You need to make sure that your BMW has the headset profile selected for the pairing with the Sidekick. It has been my experience that data devices have different BT "signatures" than regular phones when pairing with other devices. Like when I paired my in car computer with my MDA, I had to make sure to enable the headset profile for that pairing. I dunno if you can do this on BMWs, but it's worth a shot."

Is this "headset profile" available? BTW, I have the non-Idrive version of Bluetooth.

Quick questions:
Do you have I-Drive?
Are you able to pair up your address book?
Can you make calls straight from your vehicle, or must you manualy transfer the call?

Thanks!

what i have learned for me. so far. is if i get in the car, call someone from my phone. MANUALLY transfer the sound to the car. then every call i make in the car ride, will transfer automatically. its soooo stupid.
p.s. i have a sidekick 3 for sale.

Update:
I took my BWM into the dealership for the emission recall, and after they upgraded the software on my car, I am now able to connect my Sidekick 3 with my BMW's bluetooth. HURRAY!

The only thing I am not able to do is sync the addressbook, but I know that is a Sidekick3 issue.

[Edited for clarification]

1. Yes
2. No, the sk3 does not have that type of bluetooth, it only has bluetooth for headsets, not transfering data.
3. I can dial the number in Idrive, and it will work, or dial on my phone with the headset on bluetooth and it will work,

The only thing is the address book does not sync, but its ok, I just set my most used phone numbers with the voice dial. WORKS GREAT!
OK, first you say it syncs, then you say the address book doesn't sync. There isn't anything else that syncs besides the address book.

BMW's (in fact any car's) implementation of Bluetooth does not use the Headset Profile to operate, it uses the Handsfree Profile. If you are able to pair your device to the car and then use the car to place a call, you are not using the Headset Profile. Neither of these Profiles have anything to do with data transfer by the way.
