ED Pricing in Canada

I'm about to order a 328i through ED. Everybody says I should negociate the options at invoice price. Does anybody have the Invoice pricing of the options in Canada ? My dealer gave me the ED pricing (40,110$ Cdn) but gave me the MSRP pricing for the options (Nav + metal + Dakota Leather) .
Thanks.

The dealer has 9.80% profit built-in to package options and 9.88% profit built-in to stand-alone options

Thanks. So if I understand well we have

MSRP Invoice
Nav Package 2900$ 2616$
Dakota Leather 2400$ 2163$
Metallic 800$ 721$

So I should be able to get invoice pricing on these options with ED pricing. Right ?

Potentially. I would think that BMW has to throw the dealer some sort of bone here since they don't get the profit on the car itself (the big item). That bone would be in the form of profit on options, possibly?

You can suggest it to the dealer... don't know what they will say. At least you are now armed with the correct information as to what you pay and what they pay.

good luck!

Can you save any money by doing ED in Canada (other than car rental costs in Europe)? What other costs/tax/freight/custom you have to pay when picking the car in Canada?

I am very interested in doing that even if I pay about the same as in here, there is no substitute for driving your BMW in autobahn....

Which dealership is willing to do ED? Do I have to go through the HQ?

Thanks.................... Simon

Yes you do same some money. ED pricing on the 328i is 40,110. MSRP is 43,600$. So that's 3490$ savings + taxes = 3980$. You still have to pay the same PDI / Admin fees / freight (1895$ / 175$ / 600$) as for a regular delivery. You can get a flight ticket to Germany (round trip) for about 800$ Cdn.
Most of the dealer will offer ED, you don't have to go through HQ. Just ask around.

Thanks Terry,

That sounds great, do you have the option price list? I am looking to add sunroof + Nav only, would you happen to know the price for those options? Do I just add 14% on top of the list price + admin fees? How about freight insurance or the insurance to drive in Europe for say 3 weeks?

Simon
I don't have the Canadian price for the sunroof. As far as I know, the Nav comes only in the Nav Package ZPL @ 2,900$ MSRP. Where do you get 14% from ? There is no extra freight insurance. Insurance is included for the first 2 weeks. There is a good link on BMW USA website talking about ED. http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/...livery/dropoff
And more info in this forum.

The 14% is GST/PST when importing the car into the country...

In the past from other sources, I learned that Canada doesn't have the same program as the US, and it works out to about the same price when doing ED for Canadian. Is this new for 2007?

I visited a dealer about 2 years ago in GTA and expressed my interest about doing ED, the looked at me and told me there is no real saving in doing ED for Canadian, forget about it, just buy a new one from our dealership... blur blur blur

I really want to do ED for the experience of a lifetime, plus we have already planned a trip to Europe even without doing ED.

Did you lease or finance or ED?
What rate did you get?

That's the first time I hear about those cost. I actually asked my dealer.
I'll let you know.

Thanks Terry, I figured BMW Canada might have beef up the program so it's now similar to the one in US.

Looking forward to your good news...

I sure will take back a 328i coupe from Europe if this is TRUE !!!

BTW: have u decided on what color you are getting?

Tough call for the color. Was the same for my current car (2004 325Ci)
I couldn't decide between Orient Blue and Titanium. I took silver.
For the 328i, I hesitate between Space Gray / Monaco Blue and Montego Blue.

I am getting Alpine white for sure, with hopefully some sort of light color interior.

I am debating whether I should get the sport package for the 18" wheels, my only concern is the high tire replacement cost for the 18" vs. 17", but I really want to get those sport seats.

Are u going to get your paperworks done soon? I am thinking of picking the car up next April/May to avoid winter weather.

First I'll wait until all the questions are answered by my dealer (additional fees, etc...). Then I'll decide what to do. I'm planning do place the order around end of September for pick-up in January.

Just be careful for January delivery, German/Munich winter driving is quite dangerous comparing to Ontario's roads, I believe they have very little budget in snow removal.

I was in Munich in December 2 years ago, I almost got into an accident because there were a big big pile of snow in the middle of a hwy in Munich, my rental car lost control and went into spin.

Terry, please share the information once you heard from your dealer.

Thanks......... Simon

Don't worry. I used to live in Germany and still go there on a regular basis for business (hence my choice of ED delivery )
I'll post any new info as soon as I have them.
