What would you do?
Just wanted to ask some advice from you guys about a few cars on my road
I have not done much walking around my area in a long time - mainly because I hop directly into the car and whizz off - the things around me never get noticed. Yesterday the car was in the garage and to avoid taking it out, I decided to walk to the sweet shop. On the way back I noticed something rather alarming during the last couple of hundred yards to my house. At least 5 vehicles had bald tyres - with the naked eye, it was clear they were not legal - looked almost like racing slicks. Adding to the problem was the fact 3 of them belong to my neighbours. I'm not quite sure how to approach them on the matter - or if to say anything at all. My neighbours are all "A-to-B" drivers and use their cars for school runs. Do I just ignore this? Or report it somewhere? |

I wouldn't report it anywhere - just mention it to them when you see them. " Did you know your tyres are looking a little threadbare?"
I'm sure they'll be happy for your input. There was a recent fifth or top gear higlighting what happens in the wet with minimum tread depth recently. Not good!!

Of course you have to mention it to your neighbours ASAP. I'm sure they'll be straight of to Kwikfit. A lot of people just forget to keep an eye on tyres. |

Yeah I agree & would mention it casually in conversation, just in case they take it the wrong way .. they shouldn't of course, as you are bringing something to their attention which is vitally important .. but you know what some people are like.
The Fifth Gear thing was VERY enlughtening and suggested changing 3mm wasn't it ? Amazing they all have balding tyres ! |

Thanks all for the input, I'll find a way to slide a subtle remark when I have a convo with my neighbours. That episode of 'Fifth Gear' you guys are referring to is the reason I'm so concerned.

Ya, There are a lot of people out there that don't pay much of any attention to their cars. See people with half flat tires in my apartment complex all the time, and if it's low enough to notice it by eye you know it's pretty darn low. Plenty of almost bald tires out there too. I'd definitely let them know. You could even leave a piece of paper with a friendly note under their wipers or ... Pretend you're the police and give them a warning.
