It means "full service", including bending you over, and fully lubricating your bunghole (BMW synthetic of course) before they mount you and penetrate.

What kind of hideous figures are those? That's an insult, even if they did provide the "extra" service above. I'd run from that joint and never go back for anything, including purchasing a car.

I had my car in for another service (BMW Assist Telematics) and had them do the oil change at the time (~4000 mi ) just cause I wanted the break-in oil changed out as a peace-of-mind measure. My Dealer charged $119 for the oil, filter and labor. I felt that the price was high, but I was willing to pay for the above mentioned peace-of-mind. I would say that prices at my dealership in general are high, and they don't bargain at all. Privelege of owing a BMW and all that.

My dealer wanted $130 for the oil change (they said they were doing other inspections as well ) I'm going to an inde shop, that was recommended by some local members of the BMWCCA, today to get it done for $60 and also having them do a full tech inspection for an upcoming track day for an additional $35. I'd probably do the change myself if I had a garage. Living in an apartment sucks sometimes.

I was watching "motorweek" and they had a segment about how oil changes are being more stretched. They said that oil, as well as the oil filter HAS in fact improved (...well the addictives), and that Mobile 1 offers full synthetic from 5k miles, 7500miles, as well as a 15k mile oil now. They then took different oil filters and cut them up to show the difference on the inside between 5k,7k, and 15k ones.

At first I was scared about letting the oil go 15k miles, but after watching this....as well as seeing the oil when I changed it at 7500 miles (still looked like new!!!), I feel much better just letting BMW change the oil when the car says so.

Just had the dealer change my oil at 3,700 miles.
$89 inclusive of tax.

I'll be putting about 1k miles on it this weekend during a road trip, so for me it was worth the peace-of-mind knowing that any break-in shavings were removed.

My dealer also has a points system (to keep you coming to them for service/parts/etc.) where everytime I buy something I accumulate 10% of the cost in points. When I'm ready to buy my next BMW I negotiate the best price, then they take the value of my points off there (1 point = $1). So during this oil change I just earned $8.90 off my next BMW... hey better then nothing.

I had planned to get my oil changed today (10,000miles on the dot today) ao I called around to the local two dealers.... neither service dept picked up so I took a chance and called NAPA. "Sure we have that filter...$10.11." So I went to NAPA< picked up the filter and went the local Jiffy lube. They liked my car very much. Took it first in front of some Toyota POS... and smart guy checked the filter before draining the old oil. Wrong filter. Apparently NAPA, AutoZone, etc have the wrong filter number in their books. BMW won't release the filter specifications or whatever to anybody. So now, I have to go to NAPA, return the filter and then go to the BMW service dept and buy it form them...and find a different JiffyLube so I dont look like a moron.

I would have ti buy rhino ramps, and other supplies....Total cost would be comparable to JiffyLube doing it. Besides, it's 110 degrees in Phx.

Yeah, but you don't buy the other stuff EVERY time you do an oil change. After the first one, you can use a topside extractor...you don't even have to lift the car or get out of the garage.

I don't like to do all that pumping. I rather it pour out and drink a beer while waiting.

Had mine changed at 5500 for $60 at Anderson in CL Illinois. The first SA gave me some crap about it when I called for a price. About a month later they were great. Very happy to take me $$ and took a sample for me. I sent the sample to Blackstone. TBN was 5 (10-11 virgin oil). Most particles were way off the chart. They said nothing to worry about because it's a new engine. They suggested a change every 5k for a while then ease it up. 1yr or 15k is insane unless your are leasing.
