Unhappy Guys I need help. Subwoofer install did not work out

Like everyone said, I used PAC Trunk-LOC. I have an Orion 600D amp and a Soundsplinter 12" RL-P sub wired at 1 ohm. So the sub should be recieving 600 watts and that should be loud but my sub does not get loud at all. At high volume sub moves a lot but you can barely hear it in the cabin. The OEM subs underneath the seat for non-logic 7 are louder or as loud as the sub i just put in. What is wrong guys? I have been waiting a long time for loud bass but I am not getting any. I was reading today and I read on this page http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5285.html in the specs that the PAC has "2 - 80 Watt Power Handling" -- could that be the problem?

Try reversing the positive & negative speaker wires that goto the sub. It may be out of phase with the stock woofers.

out of phase

Even easier,
if it is out of phase try left/right channel and see whenever you return to center if the bass increase or not. Depending on the connection itself you might need to go front/rear as well....

Are you running the dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm sub? I see that there are two versions of this sub.

I have a dual 2. It bumps when I open the trunk but not too much gets inside the cabin. I am giving it 600 watts. Its wierd. Do the e90s have the metal wall like the e46s?

I hear that the trunk walls are very sound tight as well. That's wierd that you're not getting much in the cabin because I am getting a whole lotta thump with 350 wrms.

Have you tuned the frequencies? Do you have any hi-lo filters set? What are your gains set at?

i don't konw what that amp is... the subs are dvc? so 2 2 ohm coils? and you're running 1 ohm impedence --> dvc in parallel?

is your amp 1 ohm stable? and is the amp 600W RMS? I'm running a 450W amp and I get plenty of bump at 2 ohm.

Also, is it 600Wx1 @ 1ohm? cuz it should be kickin like crazy...

did you wire power to the PAC trunk-loc correctly? Maybe it's not actually doing the line output conversion... that would cause a really muted sound and also some delay in the sound coming through.

Check the direction that your sub faces ( I HOPE you didn't already do some custom install!)

I had a SICK set of rockford, two 12" P3 and a 2400w amp, running at a verified 1400 RMS. SUPER awesome set of subs! just AMAZING!

That is, when I had them face directly rear in the two different cars I had them in, one SUV and one '02 civic SI hatch. pointed rear, they where earth jarring bass....

If i tilted the sealed box so that the subs pointed toward the ceiling... I got almost NOTHING. I mean NADA. you could see them bounce HARD, and hear a LITTLE bit of bass, but feel NOTHING. The sound just dissappeared.

So try to move your sub around, point it in different places... it might make all the difference in the world...

Yea. I did wire the trunk LOC correctly. I used wire taps and made sure I was tapping the right wire like 10 times. Yes amp is 1 ohm stable. Becasuse of the lack of bump in my car I ordered a 1200 X 1 amp and it will be here wednesday. But that is wierd that you guys are getting a lot of thump with just 600 watts. Man, I dont even know if I did anything wrong. What should I do?

Xcaliber -- which direction was ur sub facing? toward the cabin or trunk?

I used a multimeter to set gains so I know that my amp is putting out the right amount of voltage. The PAC trunk LOC is a high-low filter

This is a very interesting scenario. So the sub has lots of excursion, but not much sound? And you say it thumps when the trunk is open but not when you are in the cabin, right? What kinda of box are you using?

I was using a sealed box and now I just put it in a ported box (1.5 cu ft 32hz). The ported box gets a little louder than the sealed box. It is wierd. I thought 600 watts would shake my nuts dead but no. I can barely feel a very dull thump on my chest when car is at a standstill. But when I open the trunk the sub is having full excursion and is getting considerably loud. This is what I have in mind for wednesday when I get my new amp. I will wire the 1200 wrms amp and hopefully the sub gets loud -- I will aim sub towards trunk and then towards cabin and hopefully it meets my expectations of loudness. Otherwise, I am gonna cry.

Sealed should hit harder... the ported will just appear to hit deeper --not necessarily louder. Did you check the cutoffs on the amp? I dunno man... 600Wx1 RMS @ 1 ohm on a ~500W RMS sub should be kickin like crazy.

See the thing is that 600 is the minimum watts required to get the sub to full excursion. The sub can take 1000 watts. So that is why I ordered a 1000 wrms amp. If that doesnt work out do u think u could check it out xcaliber since you live pretty close to me?
